Portlock Device Manager is a system utility that retrieves comprehensive information about the devices and drivers installed on your Windows system, organizing them for you on a hierarchical way. Moreover, it also allows you to send that information to Portlock (the program's developer) via e-mail or direct upload, in order to enrich their database and help other people find the appropriate drivers.
The program presents a light interface that looks pretty similar to Windows' standard Device Manager, though offering an additional panel whose function is to display very detailed information about the device you have previously selected on the categorized list on the left. At the top, you will find a toolbar that provides you with shortcuts to practically all the features the program includes. There you can perform various actions, such as refresh the device list at any moment, load a preexisting XML file with information about drivers, install drivers and load them manually, export your existing device list into an XML file, e-mail your device list to Portlock (which requires a previously-created XML file) or upload it to Portlock's website directly, and the possibility of capturing your Portlock Device Manager window with your currently selected device information, or even your entire desktop area, with the intention - of course - of sending it to Portlock.
As soon as you run the program, it shows you a list of all your installed devices, even when a certain driver is missing - in which case you will be notified. A very attractive asset of this program is the option to install and load device drivers, which results specially useful for driver programmers, who will surely want to test their work without the need to restart their systems every two or three minutes. Best of all, this program is totally free.
